Valencia, 29 June 2021 – Licampa 1617, a company of Juan Roig created expressly to build a sustainable Arena in the city of Valencia, plans to invest more than 35 million euros in 2021 to advance the Casal España Arena de València project. The construction of the complex, which as of today has been under way for one year, is expected to become a nationally and internationally renowned multi-use space for hosting sport, cultural and entertainment events, which will contribute to putting both the city and the Valencian Community on the map.

Part of the amount estimated for this year is earmarked for the construction of additional infrastructure that will benefit the neighbourhood, such as a new and modern space for the “Les Arts” public school, works on which began in mid-November 2020 and which is scheduled to open for the upcoming school year.

This amount is in addition to the approximately 20 million euros that have already been invested since the project began, which form part of the estimated €220M total cost of the project, an initiative of Juan Roig, whose investment is fully funded from his personal wealth, and to date more than 40 suppliers have participated in the project, providing employment to over 100 people.

For the works on the Arena, the ground excavation down to -2 metres and the slurry walls have already been completed, and water is currently being extracted from the water table, which is being redirected to irrigation channels near the lot.

The plan is for the ground excavation down to seven metres in depth to be completed and the special foundations to be laid during the summer, to be able to move into Phase 2 in the second half of this year. Said phase includes the concrete and metal structure of the complex.
